        GROWING STRONGER

For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world”  and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

                                   1 John 5:4

My strength is beginning to return.  I’ve also been going outdoors for long walks more often.

This morning, for example, I went to the recreation yard where I spent the allotted 90 minutes with my friend Alan.  It was cold but the sun was shining.

While last night, from 8:15 to 9:45, I went to the yard to walk again.   This time, however, I had  to stroll under the bright blare from the rows of  high intensity security lights that are positioned throughout the area.

It was much colder during the evening.  So only about a dozen men dared to venture outside.  Yet I enjoyed my time of solitude and silent prayer.

I know that God is with me.  He has been an ever present help in  times of trouble.  And He’s been holding me very close of late as I am going through a time of adversity and stress.

Nevertheless, as I take my winter walks, and even now as I sit in a prison cell, I can sense God’s power and peace.

His grace is always sufficient, and I can therefore remain stedfast in my faith.

Through Christ I have already overcome the world
